What's in a name?
The official International breed name for our breed is the Finnish term:
Suomenlapinkoira. In Finland they may be known as Lapinkoira
This is the breed name used in Finland and also by the World Canine Organisation (FCI).

The Finnish Lapphund Club of Finland translates Suomenlapinkoira as
Finnish Lapponian Dog.
This hasn't been widely adopted in English speaking countries, and in Australia you will tend to see
Finnish Lapphund
The English extended breed standard is an excellent resource for breeders and prospective owners alike. I feel it really captures very well the idea of a Finnish Lapphund as a moderate, yet varied breed which must have an essential 'lappiness' at its core.
